It’s the end of March and the last day of NaBloPoMo.

I’ve been staring at my blank blog for an hour now trying to figure out what to write to sum up the 31 posts in 31 days experience but to be honest all I can think about is the Tuesdays with Dorie Coconut Butter Thins that I didn’t get a chance to bake (Sorry Jayne!) and my Taste & Create that is due tomorrow but have no idea what I am doing yet (Sorry Debb!).

You wanna know the truth?

I am tired and overwhelmed and anxious.

Apparently I am not superwoman (although I do dig the cape).

Is buying a home suppose to be this stressful?

You were buying a house and doing NaBloPoMo at the same time? AND trying to make cake pops? That list is giving me an aneurysm.

I’m starting the April NaBloPoMo tomorrow. Doing one-armed push-ups as I type this. ;)

  Well actually I just found out about the “buying home thing” last week so I can’t blame my lackluster blogging on that. HAHA. Have fun with nablopomo in April. (Don’t hurt yourself on the way down.)

Trust me buying a house is a relationship tester. There will be constant arguments even on the day of closing. Hang in there. Take things one at a time. Once its all over, you have a wonderful house to enjoy with a kick ass kitchen. :)

  Thanks Linda! I think I am just a typical first time home buyer that wants new and perfect which aint gonna happen on our budget so as soon as I get over that I think we’ll be ok. (I hope.) haha

From what I’ve been told – yes, it really is that stressful. Nothing like feeling like you’re signing your life away, huh? Kudos for making it through NaBloPoMo!

Congrats on making it through the month! I found your blog through NaBloPoMo, and I enjoy it very much. As for buying a house, it is very stressful, but so, so, so worth it.

  So cool that I found a new friend doing nablopomo. I am sure buying a home is totally worth it. I just hope I can make it to that point… eek.

Buying a house is very stressful and like someone else said, it will def test your relationship. Especially the first time. Luckily the second time around for us was a lot easier… Good luck with the house hunting though!

  Yeah me and T are trying to keep it in perspective but I feel like home buying is kinda like wedding planning. I can see how all the sudden things could get out of control fast!

You’re buying?!?! That’s awesome, and yes, one of the most stressfull things you can put yourself through. Just ask Alanna, she’s going through it now too. All I can say is find a GOOD agent, and don’t be afriad to switch if you aren’t happy. I wish I would have. Also find a GOOD mortgage broker. That I did and it was a real saving grace.
New and in your budget is in Murrieta :) You can be my nieghboor, but you would have one hell of a commute. But our school district is one of the best in the state if T wants a transfer.

  Yeah I guess we are (unofficially). Eek! We want to take advantage of the market and the Obama first time home buyer tax credit but we’re taking things slow. If we find something, great. If not, no loss. Thanks for advice. I bet a good agent and make or break the experience. LOL @ Murrieta. Honestly I’d love to be your neighbor but that commute for me and T would be killer. T loves his job too much to move to another school district. Bummer!

Wow, sending positive vibes your way with your home buying endeavors. Based on what I’ve seen, it’s a fantastic time to buy in SoCal!

The process definitely a relationship tester, and you’ll learn a lot about negotiating, not just with the sellers but with your hubs. My only advice is be open minded to all types of neighborhoods and types of homes. We’ve been in our house for 10 years and we love our home. It wasn’t our first choice of neighborhood or layout, but we kept an open mind…and we’re super happy about our decision.

If you plan on remodeling, now that’s another story. That process will make home buying look like a breeze… ;)

  Thanks for positive vibes! Definitely a great time to buy. I bet it IS a relationship tester. I think me and T have got into more tiffs in the last week than we have in the last 10 years! Yikes! That’s not a good sign huh? haha

We bought our first (and hopefully only) house in 2001. Yes, it is really stressful! So many decisions, so many tradeoffs, and you’re going to have to live with the consequences for a long while.

I’m kind of hoping we will be “actually moved in” by our 10-year buying anniversary… Everything always takes longer and costs more than you expect. Well, I think there may have been a few things that surprised us by being easier…but not enough of them!

We’re still glad we bought this house, though.

Good luck to you! It’s a good idea to take your time. We had a deadline and were starting to worry. But when we found the “right house” for us, we knew it.

  Oh man! I don’t even want to think about any remodeling. I might give myself an anxiety attack! Thankfully we really don’t have the extra stress of a deadline but finding a home is definitely more difficult than I thought it would be…
