Do you have any food allergies? (If yes, proceed to A. If no, proceed to B)

A. How do you accommodate them in your foodie lifestyle?
B. Do you have any non-food related allergies?

Can you tell I was reading tax stuff? If yes, write “0”. If no, proceed to page X. Its enough to make a girl go crazy! I realize paying taxes is a necessary evil but I don’t have to like it! Hrrummph! I best get some money back… and I would prefer no IOUs, Mr. Governator. I will accept a state check with your signature (hopefully that still means something) or cold hard cash. Thanks.

Anywhoo… about my question. I am allergic to lobster but not any other shellfish. Not crab, not shrimp, not clams, not oysters. Weird huh? My body is just so complicated sometimes. HAHA. But since I’ve only had lobster once and broke out into a crazy rash that itched for days, I don’t really remember the taste and just avoid it all together. Trust me. The rash isn’t worth the 30 seconds of butter drenched lobster consumption. Eesh! I am scratching my arm right now just thinking about it. *shivers*

PS. Thanks for all the TWD comment love. I literally cackled at all references to said Simpsons episode. Remember this one?

    I feel incredibly lucky – no allergies, period. After dating a guy with celiac’s (no gluten!!) and having a roommate with a dairy allergy, I’m thinking I couldn’t really handle actually having an allergy. Dodged a bullet there!

    none really but I get gas like with butter or creams…. so I have them in moderation. Seriously but embarrassing..

    CAITLIN, No allergies at all? Dang girl. Lucky! I am allergic to all sorts of things (food or not) and it sucks.

    I am allergic to WINE! Yes, that pretty much sucks, but I deal. I can do sulfate free wines, but they are really hard to find. It’s particularly bad with reds. Sad story, really! LOL! I just have to be careful when ordering wine sauces and such. If they are cooked down I am okay, but I can’t have it from the bottle, kwim. I stick to Martinis and Cosmos. I guess I can’t complain about that!

    I have lactose intolerance. It’s a huge pain since I love cheese and ice cream. But I deal ok. Thank goodness for Trader Joes and all the goat milk and sheep milk cheese they have!

    I have other allergies too. Including penicillin!! My dr said I had the worst case of hives he’d EVER SEEN when I found out the hard way about that allergy.

    No foodie allergies but I’m super picky so that makes it just as hard.

    Non foodie allergies … that would be advil, tylenol, etc

    My daughter has food allergies. The list is way to huge to mention, but I will the basics.

    *wheat
    *gluten
    *soy
    *corn
    *dairy
    *casein
    *sugar
    *fat
    *all nuts
    *most veggies
    *most fruit
    * all meat except venison, chicken, and some fish.

    I have to make separate meals for her. every. single. day, every. single. meal.

    I’m not allergic to any food items, thank goodness. I do have some pretty severe seasonal allergies, which really suck. Some days it’s so bad I feel like I’m coming down with a bad cold. The only time of year I’m not affected is in the dead of winter.

    Funny you asked this now! Five years ago I was having horrible reactions seemingly randomly so I underwent testing and was told I was allergic to the following (as well as other things, but these were the most serious food allergies):

    – Peanuts
    – Tree nuts
    – Cinnamon
    – Turkey
    – Seafood
    – Shellfish

    I ate these things ALL.THE.TIME. and was seriously bummed. It is a huge pain in the ass when eating food that I didn’t know how/where it was prepared and worrying about hidden ingredients when eating out.

    Just this week I started the first of three rounds of re-tested and found out that my peanut allergy has completely disappeared (I enjoyed a huge spoonful of peanut butter that afternoon and was in heaven!) and that my cinnamon allergy had decreased at least threefold to just a “slight sensitivity”, meaning I can likely tolerate it again if I reintroduce it slowly. I will found out about the rest over the next two weeks. I have high hopes!!!

    *Off to eat a Reese’s peanut butter cup* ;-)

    I have no food allergies, but I simply can’t digest soy. Unfortunately, I’ve discovered if I’m eating something and I think it’s delicious and I just can’t put my finger on why, it’s usually got some serious soy in it. And then I get some tummy upset and some pooping issues. (Is that how to say it delicate?)

    And I’m allergic to the adhesive on surgical tape. Not the thing to find out after having a broken nose fixed with a tiny little cast taped extensively to my face. It was hell. :)

    I actually have no allergies. Trust me, I know. I went through the painful test, 50 needles shot in my back, and i was allergic to NOTHING!

    JINGLE, Wine?? NOOOOOO! I didn’t use to be a wine drinker but I am acquiring a taste for white wine lately. Then again I’d say a cosmos and/or martini is a great (if not better) addiction instead. ;)

    JEN, LR? Really? I never would have guessed with all the delicious baking you do. But goat milk is ok? What do you know? I learn something new everyday!

    NIKKI, You’re just fussy. Thats what you are. Sucky about med allergies. What do you do instead of advil? Its my drug when AF comes to visit.

    CHOCOLATECHIC, Aawwww poor daughter. What about all the yummy desserts you make with TWD? She doesnt eat them? :(

    TANYA, Ooohh yeah. I have major sympathy for seasonal allergies.

    CHELLE, Cinnamon? That must be a major bummer since you are a baker. Glad you are overcoming them slowly but surely! Eat that peanut butter cup slowly girl. Enjoy every bite!

    Hhmm… I am majorly lactose intolerant. And I looooooove Mexican cheese. :-( I also think I’m alergic to soy. Soy milk affects me the same as regular milk. Guava too. I get really nauseous when I smell it and throw up if I drink it. That’s about it.

    MICHELLE, Aawww sucky! I heart cheese. I don’t think I’ve ever had soy milk. I don’t think I am lactose intolerant. I just don’t like the taste of straight milk. Weird huh?
