What is your least favorite thing to wash? (type of dish, appliance, kitchen gadget etc)

I was just doing some dishes when I realized how much I HATE washing my husband’s coffee pot. I really couldn’t tell you exactly why. Maybe its because coffee stains are so hard to get out and I feel like I am scrubbing for hours!! or it could be that every time I wash the coffee pot the water bounces off its characteristic circular shape and splashes my shirt so that it looks like my boobs leaked! FYI I don’t have kids. I shouldn’t get boob leakage. Feel me?

Note to self: Buy T a self-cleaning coffee pot for the next gift giving holiday.

Oh, this one is easy for me. I hate washing my flour sifter. It’s like I feel like I never actually get every little thing out of it you know? Hate. It.

APRIL, yeah thats a good one too. I use to love my flour sifter but now I prefer my strainer b/c its easier to clean. HAHA!

The kitchenaide bowl. Mine always always has marks on it! I am obviously not a candidate for SS appliances if I can’t keep a bowl clean!

NATALIE, oh dude! My KA bowl is all scratched up. I beat that thing up! HAHA. Forgive my brain (its malfunctioning from lack of sleep). Whats SS stand for?

SS is stainless steel, I think. :)

I hate washing plastic containers, you know, lunch and leftovers, it’s like I always have so many of those to wash!

LYB, ah. stainless steel. I knew it was something simple that I would say “duh?!” when I found out. HAHA. Agreed. Plastics play a delicate balance of good and evil for me.

I’m bad. I often put just about anything in my dishwasher.
Although there are some things I just won’t, like sharp contraptions, not to dull them… and the one I hate the most washing by hand is my mandolin (is it mandolin in English too?) …anywho, that super sharp flat device with which one can easily lose a finger if not careful! I love using it, yet I wish it would come with an auto-clean button! LOL

VIBI, Oui, nous l’appelons la mandoline aussi. J’ai un lave-vaisselle aussi et je regrette que je ne puisse pas y mettre tout! Je n’aime pas laver des plats. J’approuve des choses pointues comme ma lame de robot de cuisine. Je dois toujours aller lent.
(Yes, we call it mandoline too. I have a dishwasher too and I wish I could put everything in it! I hate washing dishes. I agree with sharp things like my food processor blade. I always have to go slow.)

Luckily, hubby does most of the dishes because I hate it all!! I don’t know that I hate any single item most, but anything covered in frosting or Gluten Free batter is bad. It is so hard to get shortening or rice flour off of things and really feel like they’re clean.

I’m not a big fan of cleaning strainers or anything like that which things tend to get caught in. Decorating tips aren’t much fun either.

ZEBE, lucky butt! I have a deal with T that whoever cooks, the other person cleans but lately I’ve noticed that I am doing both b/c Tsucks so bad at getting things clean (or maybe I am just anal?) so I end up doing the dishes too. Agreed. Cleaning tips=not fun.

I hate cleaning all of it… but if I had to choose one thing it would have to be the stovetop. Gas burners char any spills into the enamel long before I have a chance to clean it up.

As for that coffee pot, in a former restaurant job here was how we cleaned the coffee pots every night and they were all pretty crystal clear: a couple wedges of squeezed lemon, about a tablespoon of salt, about a cup or ,ore of ice cubes and just a splash of water. Swish and swirl in both directions for a few minutes. Leave it to sit for a while if you can – then rinse well.

Food processor, definitely. Damn sharp blades, and half the time I don’t realize I’ve cut myself until the soap suds turn a little pink. Hmph.

Stock pot! It’s so big it barely fits in the sink and I get water all over the counter tops. Ick!

I’m sure the bottled lemon juice would work – I just remember that it actually made cleaning all the coffee pots kind of fun. ; ) Let me know if it helps!
